Cedar River Water and Sewer District administers a cross-connection control program to meet WA State Department of Health requirements and ensure an uninterrupted supply of clean, safe water to our customers. We go to great lengths to deliver water of the highest quality, with stringent testing and ongoing water quality assessments. However, the water can become contaminated within your own piping system through cross-connections, and could degrade the water in the District’s mains if it were allowed to flow back into the mains.
Our goal is to ensure that appropriate backflow preventers are installed where necessary and maintained properly to prevent the contamination of our customer’s drinking water supply. This includes annual testing by WA State Department of Health certified testers.
Please do your part to prevent contamination of the drinking water supply through the installation of proper backflow preventers. Most modern plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets, and clothes washers) have built-in backflow prevention features, however there are some that do not. Landscape irrigation systems, garden hose faucets, solar collectors, fire sprinkler systems, spas, and swimming pools are some examples of systems that do not have these features and require additional protection.
