Infiltration Testing to Start Soon
Cedar River Water and Sewer District and King County Metro both have a strict Inflow and Infiltration Program which states down spouts, footing drains, sump pumps and any surface water or drains cannot be hooked into the sanitary sewer system. This system is strictly for sewage. Your compliance with this policy is required, anyone caught violating this policy may be liable for costs associated with terminating the connection as well as additional fees and penalties.
Sewer System Maintenance
Grease is probably the largest reversible problem for any sewer system. It adheres to the inside of our plastic and concrete pipes, reducing the volume capabilities of both the pipes and the pumps at the lift stations. If customers would refrain from placing eating products (fats and oils) in their kitchen sink drains or garbage disposals, but instead put them in the garbage, it will keep your neighborhood smelling good, save our crews numerous hours of maintenance and in the long run, you money.
Cedar River Water & Sewer District and King County Waste Water Treatment Division, by policy, do not allow fats, oils or grease to be put into the sewer system. Oils, fats and grease should be placed in containers and thrown out with your normal household garbage. Please do your part, so that we can save you money.
Not sure what to do with other materials that may be hazerdous to our water and sewer system? Check out the Resources Page for answers before dumping them in your sewer.
