Cedar River Water and Sewer District serves the areas of Fairwood, Maple Valley and Hobart.  The Fairwood area has grown tremendously in the last five years with the addition of many apartment complexes and several large residential developments.  The McGarvey Park development surrounding the NIKE Missile site (approximately 500 single family homes) is near completion and the recent incorporation of the City of Maple Valley has generated a large amount of growth and expansion of water mains to serve the single family, multifamily, and commercial developments within the City.

Overall, the District anticipates that replacement of water and sewer mains, expansion of the water and sewer distribution/collection system, additional reservoir capacity and the administrative facility will cost approximately $24 million dollars in the next six to eight years.  Much of this expense will be paid from developers when they create additional single family and multifamily residential units.  Communities that create Utility Local Improvement Districts (ULID’s) will also fund a portion of the capital improvement program. Another portion will be paid from the District with General facilities collected from developers and homeowners.  The remainder will be paid from water and sewer monthly service rates.
